Blossom Trail
Homer G. Davisson (1866–1957) “Blossom Trail”

 

 

DavissonHomer G. Davisson was born in Blountsville, Indiana in 1866.  He studied at Depauw University and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the Art Students League in New York City, and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C.  He also studied for three years in Munich, Holland and France.  He primarily exhibited pastoral landscapes at the Hoosier Salon, Swope Art Gallery, Fort Wayne Art Museum, and the Indiana Artists' Club.  While studying at the Art Students League, he met painter Marie Goth.  He returned to Ft. Wayne, Indiana and was a teacher there at the Ft. Wayne Art School.  He was active in the Hoosier Salon, the Indiana Artists Club and the Springfield Art League.  From 1920, Davisson regularly summered in Nashville, where he became a charter member of the Brown County Art Gallery in 1926 and was active there until his death in 1957.
